My formal training includes a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University, a NYS Certificate in Interpersonal Psychoanalysis from The Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis as well full training from The Laurel Parnell Institute for Attachment Focused EMDR. I am a *Flash practitioner and a provider of* Induced After Death Communication treatment for unresolved grief and traumatic loss. I continue to learn new progressive and innovative EMDR and trauma focused techniques to help address emotional/social/distress.
I have learned that healing and change are fostered when persons are offered an environment that is inviting, collaborative and attentive. My goal is to provide a challenging but non-judgmental and encouraging atmosphere for persons to explore concerns and challenges. I incorporate harm reduction strategies, 12 step ,as well a cultural strengths and social justice lenses to recognize each person's lived experience. I support persons in their problem solving to attain their goals and to live life authentically and fully. My dog, Diego, can be a comforting presence , but will only be in the office if it is ok with you.
*Flash is a derivative of EMDR , and can help to reduce distress without having to talk about the incident/event in any detail.
*IADC is also an EMDR technique which can be explored once the painful trauma of the loss is reduced. It focuses on a reconnection with the deceased loved one.
